Let's Do Lunch
Monday, November 2, 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. ET
The Vantage Point presents “Let’s Do Lunch,” an informational hour that connects current students with Alumni and professionals from a variety of industries and fields. Panelists share professional development tips related to content students should be learning, how they arrived at their current professional destination, and how students can find opportunities with their organization. Our November science panel features two Mary Baldwin alumnae (see bios below), who will share their experience working in biomedical research and attending an Audiology program (AuD candidate for the Class of 2023), as well as local winemaker Tim Jordan, PhD. Please join us for this exciting event!

Mahala Burn, PhD (she/they), PEG '07
Director of Corporate Development and Strategic Finance at bioMérieux
Mahala's job is to seek and enable cutting-edge, life-saving technologies worldwide to help critical care patients and fight infectious disease. As Director of Corporate Development and Strategic Financing at bioMérieux, she is responsible for new healthcare diagnostic technology scouting and dealmaking, with a special focus on startups. Before joining bioMérieux, Mahala was the Practice Director of EY-Parthenon's Life Sciences business, where she was responsible for managing business operations as well as development of the book Personalizing Precision Medicine. She earned her Cell Biology PhD at Yale University in the lab of Graduate Dean Lynn Cooley, and worked in life sciences strategy consulting and deal diligence at L.E.K. Consulting. The Program for the Exceptionally Gifted at Mary Baldwin made all of this possible, by providing her with a supportive, interdisciplinary, leadership-developing education as a foundation for her career.
Elise Ball, MS (she/they) '17
PhD student at University of Texas at Dallas Audiology (anticipated graduation 2023)
Elise Ball graduated from MBU in 2017 with her BS in Psychology and a minor in Physics which prepared her for her next steps and made her a competitive applicant. She worked as a Research Technician at the Penn State College of Medicine then went on to pursue her MS in Biomedical Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Elise is furthering her clinical education and is currently a first year doctoral student at the University of Texas at Dallas in Audiology. This field perfectly ties together her interests in physics, psychology, and neuroscience.
