VWIL Induction Parade

VWIL Cadets on ParadeFirst parade of the school year. We're inducting 38 nULLs into the VWIL Corps, welcoming 14 new band members, and commissioning two 2LTs into the Army. Another fantastic year ahead for the MBU Marching Band and VWIL Corps of Cadets!

nULL 2025 at WildernessJoin VWIL alumni at a virtual Town Hall covering a variety of topics from the start of our year with the corps, current enrollment numbers and demographics, uniform standards, the ROTC program, traditions and key events, as well as proposing the establishment of a new VWIL Alumni Chapter within the Mary Baldwin University Alumni Association.  Hosted by BG Terry Djuric, CSM Gerald Johnson, and Adrienne Teague, executive director of alumni engagement.

Family Weekend: VWIL Class of 2023 Junior Honor Ceremony
October 1, 2021 4 p.m. ET
The VWIL Junior class will be recognized for their MBU and VWIL Corps accomplishments.

Corps Run to Mary Julia Baldwin’s Gravesite 
October 4, 2021 4 p.m. ET 
In honor of Mary Julia Baldwin's birthday and MBU's Founders' Day, the VWIL Corps and ROTC cadets run to M.J.B.'s gravesite in Thornrose Cemetery.

VWIL Corps Training
October 9, 2021
Observe the cadets in their second training event of the semester. This will be a 5-hour challenging session on campus and across Gypsy Hill Park.

Fall FTX
October 22-24, 2021
ROTC cadets and midshipmen spend 2.5 days off campus learning more about their military branches.

Citizen Leader Seminar
October 23, 2021 
VWIL cadets spend the morning updating their cover letters and resumes; updating their LinkedIn presence; discussing timing for GRE, MCAT, LSAT.  Additionally, we would like a VWIL Alumni to be a guest speaker with experience in government civilian service and USAJOBS.gov.

Halloween PT
October 29, 2021 
Cadets wear their halloween costume and enjoy Corps PT. 

Recognizing Veterans’ Week
November 6-11, 2021
VWIL cadets will attend a Medal of Honor recipient presentation, the band will play for veterans at an assisted living home, and the corps will host a virtual VWIL Alumni Veterans' Panel

Staunton Holiday Parade
November 29, 2021 
Depending on the pandemic, the VWIL Corps leads 200 parade entries through downtown Staunton for the annual holiday parade.

25th Anniversary Celebration

VWIL celebrated its 25th anniversary in the 2020-2021 academic year! Please enjoy reliving the celebration experiences throughout the year:

Tea Nguyen '15, First Lieutenant

1LT Tea Nguyen '15 Serves in Kabul Airlift During Evacuation Efforts

The day before the final American troops withdrew from Afghanistan, 1LT Nguyen boarded a C-17 military transport at Hamid Karzai International Airport with 30 joint service members and 120 Afghan refugees.

Brigadier General Norman Michael Bissell, first commandant of cadets for the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership passed away on February 7, 2019, at age 80.
